::: Introducing ::: 21 Artists: London Featured Artist Andrea Rania
What Kites Eat
The project plans to transform digital frames of one of my animated shorts into real “analog” frames.
The lack of mold (matrix) in digital art is the meaning of this work. In our days almost everything is done digitally, it doesn’t exist except as a binary code or if reproduced from a tool which can read that code. This is the thinking behind this project. To create a “real” version of the movie, making an inverted process, from digital to analog.
Andrea has Italian origins, currently living in Paris where he works as an animation film director. His work contains a sort of magic, a frozen moment and a still frame that hide a subtle movement, which is always different. At first sight, his characters look motionless but they have a “ghost” who speaks to the public and impresses on them the memory of their movements.
